Woodworking is a hobby that has been around for centuries. It is one of the most creative hobbies, and it can be enjoyed by all ages it is one of the best ways to relieve stress and have a creative outlet. With creativity, you can do anything from woodworking to photography. Most people use their creativity to design and make custom furniture, but there are so many other things you can make with woodworking, such as garden beds, flower planters for the porch, and whole workshops. The possibilities are limitless, to be honest. I have always worked with tools throughout my life, helping my Dad and uncles work on projects. My Dad, particularly my uncle Joker, gave me a love and respect for woodworking early on in my life. They both set a solid foundation of knowledge that I continue to learn and expand on. I am forever grateful to both of them, and may both rest in peace.
Creativity is not something that you are born with but something that you learn over time. It takes practice to improve, but the rewards are worth it.
We all need a creative outlet in our lives; if we find one, we will be more productive and happier throughout our life journey.
Creativity is essential to being human, as it helps us think outside the box and solve problems in new ways. Some people express their creativity through art or music, while others do so through cooking or gardening. Woodworking is an art form that anyone with the right tools and patience can practice. Woodworking is not only a creative outlet, but it also has practical applications, such as building furniture, making toys, building homes for birds, or even repairing broken objects.
Creativity is essential to woodworking and can be applied to any aspect of this hobby. You don't need to be an expert carpenter to put your own creative touch on wood projects and make them your own. Lanterns are a great example of this because they can be made of many different materials in all shapes and sizes. For example, I recently created my own wooden lantern using some scrap wood found within the shop from other projects I worked on in 2022.
It is made of cedar wood, but you can choose from various kinds of wood like maple, cherry, or walnut. I took inspiration from some DIY posts on Pinterest and made it my own. I have been working on a much bigger project over the last 4 to 5 weeks and needed to add an accessory lantern to this new project, which I will share in another post once it is 100% completed. Here is the final outcome of the built wooden lantern for that project. After building this one lantern, I am so happy with it that I am about to build 3 more for that more significant project. This wasn’t the plan, but I go where the wood wants to take me. I do not need to stick to plans when woodworking, which is so damn freeing.
